Comprehensive Answers

I’ve compiled a list of the most frequent questions that I have received over my career. It’s normal and encouraged for patients to ask many questions when choosing to work with a mental health specialist. Here are some answers to the questions I receive the most.

Therapist and Patient

How long does each therapy session take?

The initial intake appointment will take approximately 90 minutes.  Regular therapy sessions including individual and family will be 60 minutes.  Group therapy sessions will vary.

Do you accept my insurance?

No, unfortunately our office is self pay only at this time.

We are happy to file a claim to your insurance company for any out of network reimbursement to you.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

Yes, our office does offer sliding scale rates based on your income level and your ability to pay.  Please don't let the cost of mental health care deter you from seeking help.  Our office is here to work with you and to provide you with affordable therapy services.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

We all have different life experiences and each person's therapy journey will be different.  Some therapists follow specified programs that may last several weeks to several months.  My approach is for us to work collaboratively and tailor your treatment to meet your specific goals and needs.

What is ADOS-2 Testing?

The ADOS-2 is the "gold standard" for autism spectrum diagnosis.  It looks to assess the key indicators of autism spectrum disorder including communication, social interaction, restricted and repetitive behaviors.  The assessment is approximately 1.5-2 hours long and is play and communication based between the therapist and client.  There are no worksheets or checklists for parents or clients to complete.  Prior to the day of testing the therapist will request a full social and developmental history of the client and following testing the therapist will provide a full report that may be taken to other providers to secure services.
